Traffic light signals
7 signs
Signals for vehicles, lanes, pedestrians and cyclists: what each signal means.
How to recognise Traffic light signals signs
- Shape
- signal head with round lenses or with an arrow or symbol
- Colours
- red, amber, green; pedestrian and cyclist signals have their own symbols
Where they start to apply and where they end
Traffic light signals take precedence over signs regulating priority. A green signal does not release you from giving way to pedestrians on the crossing and to oncoming traffic when turning left; a green arrow next to red (S-2) requires stopping before the signal. When the lights are out of operation or flashing amber, the signs apply.
