Traffic light signals

S-1 Traffic signal for controlling traffic

What it means

The basic three-aspect signal. Green: you may pass the signal, but you may not enter if you cannot clear the intersection before the signal changes or if it would obstruct traffic. Amber: no entry unless stopping would require sudden braking. Red: no entry. Red with amber: no entry, green is about to follow. Flashing amber: the signals are out of operation, the signs apply.

In the exam

A green signal does not mean unconditional priority: when turning you give way to pedestrians on the crossing, and when turning left also to oncoming vehicles going straight or turning right.

Legal basis: § 95 of the regulation of the Ministers of Infrastructure and of the Interior and Administration on road signs and signals (Dz.U. 2019 poz. 2310, as amended).
