Are you allowed to turn left from the lane you are taking?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo you are waiting in front of a pedestrian crossing at a junction with traffic lights. The traffic lights show green, but under the A-7 signs there are C-2 signs "turn right after the sign". So from your lane you may only go right - a left turn is out of the question. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign C-2 orders you to turn right after the sign; the order applies at the nearest junction or at a place where it is possible to change direction. A green light allows you to drive past the traffic lights, but it does not cancel the orders given by signs. The general signal S-1 says "you may go", and sign C-2 adds which way.

Legal basis: § 35 para. 1 point 2 and para. 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 5 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
