Which of the following elements are obligatory equipment on a motorcycle with a side car?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

B. A warning triangle.

Explanation

In the photo a motorcyclist is riding a motorcycle with a sidecar, and next to it a first-aid kit, a warning triangle and a fire extinguisher are shown. A warning triangle is compulsory equipment on a motorcycle with a sidecar - answer B.

The Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles states that a motor vehicle is equipped with a triangle to be placed on the road, intended to warn of the presence of a vehicle at a standstill, and the only vehicle this provision does not apply to is a single-track motorcycle. A motorcycle with a sidecar is a multi-track vehicle, so it must carry a triangle. A fire extinguisher is not required on any motorcycle, and a first-aid kit is not compulsory in ordinary vehicles. The reason: a motorcycle with a sidecar is wider and heavier, and it is harder to push it off the roadway after a breakdown, so the lawmaker requires you to have something to warn approaching drivers with. Outside a built-up area you place the triangle 30-50 m behind the vehicle, and on a motorway 100 m; in the sidecar it is easy to find room for it.

Legal basis: § 11 para. 1 point 13 and 14 of the Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles and the scope of their necessary equipment; Art. 50 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
