Which of the following reflectors are obligatory equipment on a motorcycle?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

B. Rear reflector, other than triangular.

Explanation

In the photo there is a touring motorcycle with a fairing, seen from the side - at the back it has a red lamp with a reflector. Rear reflectors other than triangular are compulsory equipment on a motorcycle - answer B.

The Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles states that a motor vehicle is equipped with rear reflectors other than triangular, while triangular rear reflectors are intended for trailers. A motorcycle is a motor vehicle, so the first provision applies to it. The triangular reflector is reserved for trailers precisely so that a driver behind can tell from the shape alone that there is a vehicle combination in front, which is longer and speeds up more slowly. Side reflectors are required on vehicles longer than 6 m, tractor units and trailers - a motorcycle does not have to have them. The rear reflector works when the motorcycle is parked with no power: the headlights of an approaching car are reflected in it from far away, so do not cover it with stickers or hide it behind a top box.

Legal basis: § 12 para. 1 point 8, 9 and 11 of the Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles and the scope of their necessary equipment
