You can ride a motorcycle in an organized column provided that it does not exceed:

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

B. 10 vehicles.

Explanation

In the photo a group of motorcyclists is lining up on a square for a ride together - an organised column is starting. You may ride in it provided that the column does not exceed 10 vehicles - answer B.

The Road Traffic Act states that the number of vehicles travelling in an organised column must not exceed: passenger cars, mopeds or motorcycles - 10, bicycles, cycle carts or electric scooters - 15, other vehicles - 5. Answer A (5) applies to other vehicles, for example lorries, and answer C (15) to bicycles. The limit is meant to let other drivers overtake the column in a reasonable time and safely return to their lane between the groups, which is why the distance between columns of motorcycles must be at least 500 m. Larger rallies ride in several columns with gaps or as an event on the road for which the organiser has a permit. Riding in a column does not free you from the rules: each motorcyclist is personally responsible for the following distance, speed and signalling manoeuvres, and the rules on columns do not apply to emergency vehicles (with flashing blue lights and a siren) and military vehicles.

Legal basis: Art. 32 para. 1 point 1, para. 2, 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
