Who is obliged to use seat belts?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
C. The driver and all the passengers.
Explanation
In the photo you can see an unfastened seat belt hanging from its mounting on the side pillar of a car, with the buckle hanging loose. The driver and all passengers must wear seat belts - answer C. This obligation is not limited to the front seats (A) and does not depend on whether the car is driving in town or outside it (B).
The Road Traffic Act states that the driver of a motor vehicle and a person carried in such a vehicle equipped with seat belts must wear these seat belts while driving; children under 150 cm tall travel in child seats or other restraint devices. The exceptions apply only to particular people, such as women who are visibly pregnant or people with a medical certificate. In a collision, a passenger without a seat belt on the back seat flies forward with a force of several tonnes and can kill the person sitting in front of them, which is why, as the driver, you do not move off until everyone has fastened their seat belts - each passenger is responsible for not wearing a seat belt, and you are responsible for children.
