Are you obliged to signal a left turn if you intend to continue driving on a road with priority?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video you are approaching a junction in town; on the right there is sign D-1 "priority road" with plate T-6a, on which the thick line of the priority road turns left and a thin line branches off diagonally to the right, and the arrows on the roadway point only left and right; next to it there are sign A-30 with the plate "straż - wyjazd" (fire brigade exit) and sign B-36. If you intend to continue along the priority road, you must turn left - and you must signal this with your left indicator. The answer is: yes.
The Road Traffic Act requires you to signal your intention to change direction in good time and clearly, and to stop signalling immediately after the manoeuvre; the Regulation on road signs and signals states that plate T-6a shows the actual course of the priority road through the junction. The fact that the left turn continues along the main road does not change the fact that you are changing direction - the driver on the minor road on the right and pedestrians on the crossing must know where you are going, and they may not be able to see plate T-6a. You switch on your left indicator before the junction, watch vehicles from the minor road on the right - they give way to you - and pedestrians, and turn, switching off the indicator after the manoeuvre.
Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 5 and para. 2 point 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 43 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
