Question no. 6049 1 pts basic AM

In this situation, when you're changing lanes, are you obliged to indicate your intention of making such a manoeuvre?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we drive along a slip road past sign A-7 "give way" and enter a lane that runs next to the main roadway; at the end of this lane, lane-change arrows pointing to the left are painted. Here you must signal your intention to change lanes - the answer is YES.

The lane we are driving in ends, and road marking P-9 "lane-change arrow" requires you to move into the neighbouring lane shown by the arrow. The Road Traffic Act requires you to signal your intention to change lanes with your indicator in good time and clearly, and to switch it off right after the manoeuvre - this also applies to merging from a lane that ends. When changing lanes, you give way to vehicles in the lane you are moving into. The indicator tells them in advance that you intend to move to the left, so they can slow down or move over and make room for you. Before changing lanes, you look in the mirror and over your shoulder, because a moped can easily disappear in a car driver's blind spot.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 1, 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 87 para. 3 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
