On a road marked this way, can you drive a light four wheeled vehicle (microcar, quad)?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the photo you are driving along a wide road with noise barriers, and at a flyover there are blue D-9 "motorway" signs on both sides. You are not allowed to drive here in a light quadricycle - the answer is NO.
The Road Traffic Act defines a motorway as a road intended only for motor vehicles that can reach at least 40 km/h on a flat, level roadway, and it directly excludes quadricycles from this group. A light quadricycle is a quadricycle with an unladen mass of up to 350 kg whose design limits its speed to 45 km/h - since it is a quadricycle, the exclusion covers it directly, and on top of that it travels much more slowly than the rest of the traffic. On a motorway cars travel at up to 140 km/h, and a speed difference of around 100 km/h is a direct route to a rear-end collision. The same rule also covers an ordinary quadricycle, which you can drive with a category B1 driving licence.
