Which of the following elements must any passenger car be fitted with?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
A. Warning triangle.
Explanation
Every passenger car must be equipped with a warning triangle - answer A. A first aid kit (B) and a spare wheel (C) are recommended, but the regulations do not require them.
The Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles states that a motor vehicle is equipped with a triangle to be placed on the road, intended to warn of the presence of a vehicle at a standstill, and with a fire extinguisher placed in an easily accessible place; neither requirement applies to a motorcycle. The triangle is needed because the Road Traffic Act requires you to signal a broken-down vehicle that is standing on the road: on a motorway and an expressway the triangle is placed 100 m behind the vehicle, on other roads outside built-up areas 30-50 m behind it, and in a built-up area behind the vehicle or on it. Not having a triangle means a fine and, even worse, no protection in the event of a breakdown.
Legal basis: § 11 para. 1 point 13 and 14 of the Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles and the scope of their necessary equipment; Art. 50 para. 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
