How should a combination vehicle consisting of a tractor and a trailer be marked?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. With a triangular warning plate.
Explanation
In the photo, three versions of the back of a green trailer behind a tractor are shown: A - with an open-frame warning triangle, B - with a solid triangular plate with a bright centre, C - with two rectangular yellow plates. A combination of an agricultural tractor and a trailer is marked with a triangular warning plate - answer B.
A triangular warning plate is used to mark an agricultural tractor, a slow-moving vehicle and a trailer designed to be connected to them. In a combination, the plate is not required on a vehicle that is not the last one - that is why a plate at the back of the trailer is enough, and the one on the tractor would be hidden anyway. It is fixed at the back, with its point upwards, with its lower edge no lower than 500 mm above the roadway. A warning triangle (answer A) is placed on the road during an emergency stop, and when towing it is used to mark the towed vehicle. Rectangular warning plates (answer C) are intended for heavy lorries and large trailers, not for slowly moving agricultural combinations. Make sure the plate is not covered by the load or by mud.
