At what maximum speed are you allowed to drive a passenger car on the road beyond this sign?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

C. 140 km/h.

Explanation

In the photo you are driving on a dual carriageway, and on the right there is sign D-9 "motorway". In a passenger car you are allowed to drive on a motorway at up to 140 km/h - answer C. The 120 km/h limit (A) applies on a dual-carriageway expressway, and 130 km/h (B) does not exist in Polish regulations.

The Road Traffic Act states that the speed limit for a passenger car, a motorcycle or a lorry up to 3.5 t on a motorway is 140 km/h, on a dual-carriageway expressway 120 km/h, and on a single-carriageway expressway and a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction 100 km/h. Sign B-33 may lower this limit. The Regulation on road signs and signals specifies that D-9 marks the beginning or continuation of a motorway.

Legal basis: Art. 20 para. 3 point 1 letter a of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 48 para. 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
