At what speed can you drive a bus?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
C. At a speed, which does not cause an obstacle to other drivers.
Explanation
In the photo a bus is driving in the right-hand lane of a multi-lane roadway, next to passenger cars and a lorry. When driving a bus, you drive at a speed that does not obstruct other drivers - answer C.
The Road Traffic Act requires the driver to drive at a speed that does not obstruct other drivers and at the same time ensures control over the vehicle. This means that you must not crawl along more slowly than the conditions allow without a good reason, because this forces others into risky overtaking. At the same time, neither the speed limiter (answer A) nor the speed limit on a given section (answer B) is a speed at which you drive "regardless of the conditions" - in heavy traffic, on a slippery surface or in fog you must drive more slowly. Choosing your speed is always a compromise between smooth traffic flow and the safety of passengers.
