Question no. 1698 2 pts basic BAA1A2AMB1CC1DD1T

You intend to turn right. Are you obliged to use an indicator?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

You are approaching a junction and you intend to turn right. A turn is a change of direction, and every change of direction is signalled with an indicator - in advance, that is early enough, and clearly. So the right indicator is compulsory, even if you cannot see any other vehicles nearby.

The Road Traffic Act requires the driver to signal clearly and in advance with an indicator the intention to change direction or lane, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. The indicator tells the pedestrians and drivers around you that you are about to slow down. You switch it on before you start braking for the turn, not while you are turning.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
