Question no. 11111 2 pts basic AM

Are you allowed to make a stop at the left edge of a low-traffic two-way street in a built-up area?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving along a narrow two-way side street in a built-up area, with no other moving vehicles; on the left, at the edge of the roadway, there is a parked red car. On such a two-way roadway with little traffic you are allowed to park at its left edge - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits stopping a vehicle on the roadway at its left edge, but expressly provides for an exception: stopping or parking in a built-up area on a one-way road or on a two-way roadway with little traffic. This street meets these conditions, so you may park on the left side of the roadway. However, you must follow the other rules: place the vehicle as close to the edge as possible and parallel to it, do not stop closer than 10 m from a junction, do not block signs, do not obstruct exits from gateways and leave room for other vehicles. When moving over to the left side, watch out for oncoming traffic.

Legal basis: Art. 49 para. 1 point 1, 6 and 7, Art. 49 para. 2 point 1 and Art. 46 para. 1-2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
