Should you go close to the middle of the road if you intend to turn left onto the visible two-way traffic road?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video we are driving along a narrow two-way side street without marked lanes, along a pavement and past a parked red car, towards a junction where you can turn left. If you intend to turn left on such a two-way road, you should move closer to the centre of the roadway - the answer is YES.
The Road Traffic Act requires a driver who intends to turn left to move closer to the centre of the roadway, and on a one-way roadway - to its left edge. This allows vehicles behind you to go around you on the right, and you make the turn along a gentle curve without entering the part of the roadway meant for the opposite direction. Before changing your position on the roadway, you look in the mirror and switch on the left indicator in good time. On a narrow street the centre of the roadway is close, so watch out for oncoming vehicles and for pedestrians at the junction.
