Question no. 10864 3 pts basic AM

When turning left at this junction, are you obliged to give priority to vehicles approaching from the right?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving along a residential street between blocks of flats, past parked cars, towards a junction with signs A-5 "crossroads" and D-6 "pedestrian crossing" in front of it. When you turn left there, you are obliged to give way to vehicles approaching from the right - the answer is YES.

Sign A-5 warns of a junction where priority is not set by signs, that is, an uncontrolled junction of equal roads. The rule from the Road Traffic Act applies there: a driver approaching the junction gives way to a vehicle approaching from the right, and if turning left - also to vehicles coming from the opposite direction going straight on or turning right. So when you turn left, you have the most obligations: you let through vehicles from the right and from the opposite direction, and when turning, also pedestrians crossing the roadway you are entering. A tram also has right of way over you, whichever side it comes from.

Legal basis: Art. 25 para. 1 and 2 and Art. 26 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 5 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
