Question no. 10505 1 pts basic B

You intend to exit the motorway in the direction towards Pruszków. Should you change lanes to the right?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are driving on the A2 motorway; above the roadway there is a blue advance direction board with a distance of 400 m: straight on A2/E30 "Poznań", "Łódź", to the right road 718 "Pruszków", "Borzęcin". Since you intend to leave towards "Pruszków", you should change to the right lane. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign E-1a "advance direction board on a motorway" gives advance warning of an exit from the motorway; the distance shown on it says that the exit will begin in 400 m. An exit from a motorway usually runs along a deceleration lane branching off on the right, so the green arrow pointing right on the board shows that for "Pruszków" you need to get into the right lane. The Road Traffic Act requires you to signal a lane change in good time and clearly and to give way to vehicles travelling in the lane you are entering; 400 m is the last moment to calmly check the mirror, switch on the right indicator and move over. Drivers who wait until the exit itself then make sudden manoeuvres across two lanes or brake on the main carriageway - this is one of the most dangerous situations on a motorway. Only once you are in the deceleration lane do you reduce speed.

Legal basis: § 62 para. 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
