In this situation, can you turn left without stopping?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the video, you are driving along a street in a town and approaching a junction; on the right there is sign B-20 "STOP", and a brick church can be seen in the background. You are not allowed to turn left without stopping. The answer is: no.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 means that you must not enter the junction without stopping before the priority road, and that you must give way to drivers travelling on that road; you should stop at the place marked for this purpose, and if there is none - where the driver can make sure that they will not impede traffic on the priority road. The obligation to stop does not depend on the direction you want to go in or on whether anyone is coming - you stop even at an empty junction, and "rolling through" at walking pace is not stopping. A left turn is the most difficult manoeuvre here: you cross both directions of traffic on the priority road, so after stopping you look left, right and left again, and you move off only when you will not force anyone to brake. You switch on your indicator in good time, before you stop, so that drivers behind you know what you are waiting for.
