Question no. 10141 3 pts basic B

Are you allowed to continue driving right without stopping?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video, you are leaving a high-speed road via a slip road towards a junction where you intend to turn right; on the right there is sign B-20 "STOP" with signs B-25 and B-33 "50" underneath, and a car is driving along the intersecting road. You are not allowed to continue driving to the right without stopping. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 "STOP" means that you must not enter the junction without stopping before the priority road, and that you must give way to drivers travelling on that road. The obligation to stop is absolute: it does not depend on the direction you are going in or on whether anyone is coming - you must stop even when the road is empty and the right turn seems simple. The wheels must stop - "rolling through" at walking pace is not stopping. You stop at the marked place, and when there is none, where you can see the intersecting road, you look left and right, and you move off only when you will not force anyone to brake. When turning right, you switch on your indicator and move close to the right-hand edge of the roadway.

Legal basis: § 21 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 2 point 1 and para. 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
