C-12 Roundabout

What it means

Means traffic at the intersection circulates around an island or square in the direction shown (to the right in Poland). C-12 together with A-7 at the entry means vehicles on the roundabout have priority. C-12 alone without A-7 gives no priority to those on the roundabout.

In the exam

Entering a roundabout marked only with C-12 (no A-7) you do not need to indicate, because you are going "straight" along the road. You indicate right before leaving.

Legal basis: § 36 of the regulation of the Ministers of Infrastructure and of the Interior and Administration on road signs and signals (Dz.U. 2019 poz. 2310, as amended).

Questions about sign C-12 in Poland

Does C-12 alone give priority to traffic already on a roundabout?

No. C-12 alone specifies circulation around the island. Combined with A-7, it gives traffic on the junction priority over entering traffic. Without A-7, check other signs and signals. If the junction has equal-priority approaches, general priority rules apply, including giving way to the right and the rules for rail vehicles. A-7 at a roundabout entrance →

Does A-7 still decide priority at a roundabout with traffic lights?

Traffic signals directing traffic take precedence over signs regulating priority. Follow the signal for your direction or lane. If the lights are off or flashing amber, assess priority using the signs and the general traffic rules again.
