Warning signs

A-7 Give way

What it means

Warns of an intersection with a priority road: you must give way to vehicles travelling on it. Stopping is not compulsory if you can join safely without stopping. A sign placed within the intersection applies only to the nearest carriageway in front of it.

In the exam

Recognise A-7 by its inverted triangle. It stands up to 50 m before a junction on roads with a speed limit above 60 km/h and up to 25 m on other roads. It can also stand within a junction before the nearest carriageway.

Legal basis: § 5 of the regulation of the Ministers of Infrastructure and of the Interior and Administration on road signs and signals (Dz.U. 2019 poz. 2310, as amended).

Questions about sign A-7 in Poland

Does the line of triangles at A-7 always require a stop?

No. The P-13 line marks the place to stop if necessary to give way. If you can give way and proceed safely without stopping, A-7 and P-13 alone do not require a complete stop. B-20 STOP is different: it requires you to stop. A-7 compared with STOP →

Which carriageway does A-7 within a junction apply to?

An A-7 sign placed within a junction applies only to the nearest carriageway before which it stands. When crossing several separate carriageways, assess the signs and traffic before each one. Do not assume that this single sign sets priority for the whole junction. Working out who has priority →
