You intend to turn right. Will you in the presented situation stop at the traffic signals?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo you are approaching a junction with traffic lights in a city, before which there are signs A-7 "give way" and D-6 "pedestrian crossing"; the traffic lights show a red light, and next to it a green arrow to the right is lit - these are traffic lights S-2; a police car is driving through the junction. As you intend to turn right, you will stop at the traffic lights. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that a red signal shown by traffic lights S-2 together with a signal in the shape of a green arrow means that turning in the direction of the arrow into the nearest roadway at the junction is allowed - on condition that the driver stops before the traffic lights and does not obstruct other road users. The green filter arrow is not a green light: it allows you to turn, but only conditionally, but first it requires a full stop, even when nothing is coming. After stopping, you give way to everyone who has a green light - vehicles on the intersecting road, including the police car that is driving through, and pedestrians and cyclists on the pedestrian crossing and the cycle crossing you cross when turning. You move off only when you will not enter anyone's path. Driving through on the arrow without stopping is a petty offence and in the exam means a fail.
