In the presented situation, should you expect that the next light will be green?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

The traffic lights in front of you show red and amber at the same time. This combination is an announcement: green will come on in a moment. So yes, the next signal will be green - but for now you are still not allowed to drive beyond the traffic lights, and you wait behind the car in front of you.

The order of signals in Poland is fixed: green, amber, red, then red and amber together, and green again. The Regulation on road signs and signals says directly that red and amber signals shown at the same time mean no entry, and at the same time announce that the green signal will come on in a moment. A typical mistake in the exam is moving off already on red-and-amber - this is still driving through a red light.

Legal basis: § 95 para. 1 point 4 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
