Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving along a street in a town between houses; on the right there is a yellow diamond with a white border - sign D-1 "priority road". You are not approaching a junction at which you must give way to vehicles coming from the right - it is you who has right of way. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-1 marks the beginning or continuation of a priority road, and drivers on a minor road, that is on side roads with signs A-7 or B-20, are obliged to give way to vehicles travelling on the priority road. The right-hand rule from the Road Traffic Act applies only at uncontrolled junctions of equal roads, where right of way is not set by signs; here a sign sets it, so a vehicle coming out of a side street on the right must let you through. However, right of way does not release you from caution - the Act requires you to approach every junction with particular caution, and the principle of limited trust tells you to expect that someone may not notice the sign. So you watch the side road entrances and are ready to brake, but you do not stop or give way without a reason, because this confuses other drivers.

Legal basis: § 43 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 25 para. 1 and Art. 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
