Question no. 10140 3 pts basic B

In this situation, do you have to stop exactly before the vertical sign "Stop"?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video, you are leaving a high-speed road via a slip road and approaching a junction with an intersecting road; on the right, a dozen or so metres before the edge of the intersecting road, there is sign B-20 "STOP", and under it B-25 "no overtaking" and B-33 "speed limit" of 50 km/h. You do not have to stop exactly in front of the vertical sign "STOP" - you stop before the priority road, at the marked place or where you can see that road. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 means that you must not enter the junction without stopping before the priority road, and that you must give way; you should stop at the place marked for this purpose, and if there is none - at a place where the driver can make sure that they will not impede traffic on the priority road. The stopping place is marked by the mandatory stop line P-12, not by the post with the sign. Here the sign stands well before the junction - stopping level with it does not give you certainty that you will not impede traffic on the priority road. So you stop before the line, and when there is none, just before the edge of the priority road.
