The EU Regulation states that after a driving period of four and a half hours a driver is entitled to an uninterrupted break of at least forty-five minutes, unless he begins a rest period. You may split the break, but only in one way: first at least 15 minutes, then at least 30 minutes, and both parts must fit within those four and a half hours.
