Question no. 8595 3 pts basic B

Should you exercise special caution when turning left at this intersection?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are driving along a street in a town towards a junction; on the right there are sign D-1 "priority road" with plate T-6a, on which the thick line of the priority road turns left and thin lines lead straight on and to the right, and sign D-6; before the junction there is a pedestrian crossing, and cars are coming from the opposite direction. When turning left, you continue along the priority road, but you must still exercise particular caution. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act requires you to exercise particular caution when approaching a junction, when changing direction and when approaching a pedestrian crossing, and, when turning into an intersecting road, to give way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway of the road you are entering; the Regulation on road signs and signals states that plate T-6a shows the actual course of the priority road. Vehicles from the opposite direction and from the right are travelling along minor roads and should give way to you, but right of way does not protect you from a collision. A left turn crosses the entry opposite you and two pedestrian crossings, so you signal your intention, move towards the centre of the roadway, slow down and watch pedestrians and vehicles from the minor roads.

Legal basis: Art. 25 para. 1, Art. 22 para. 1, 2 point 2 and 5, Art. 26 para. 1 and 2 and Art. 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 43 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
