Question no. 8573 3 pts basic B

In this situation, are you obliged to yield priority to the vehicle on the right when turning left at the intersection?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are approaching a junction in town; on the right there is sign D-1 "priority road" with plate T-6a, on which the thick line of the priority road turns left and a thin line branches off to the right; next to it there are sign A-30 with the plate "straż - wyjazd" (fire brigade exit) and sign B-36. When turning left, you do not have to give way to the vehicle on the right - it is coming from a minor road. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-1 marks the start or continuation of a priority road, and plate T-6a placed under it shows the actual course of the priority road through the junction; the thick line is the priority road, the thin lines are minor roads. Since the main road turns left, by going left you stay on it, and the vehicle on the right is entering from a minor road and sees sign A-7 or B-20 - it gives way to you. However, having right of way does not free you from being careful: you signal the turn with your indicator, watch whether the driver on the right really stops, and look out for fire engines leaving the fire station and for the pedestrian crossing.

Legal basis: § 43 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 5 and Art. 25 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
