In this situation, are you approaching a place where cyclists may cross a transverse road?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo you are approaching a junction with traffic lights in a city; on the right, below sign A-7, there is the blue sign D-6b with pedestrian and bicycle symbols, and in front of you on the roadway there is a pedestrian crossing and, next to it, the red strip of a cycle crossing. You are approaching a place where cyclists may ride across the roadway. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-6b "pedestrian crossing and cycle crossing" marks a place for pedestrians to cross and a place for cyclists to ride across the road, located next to each other, and a driver approaching such a place must reduce speed so as not to put in danger pedestrians or cyclists who are there or who are stepping or riding onto it. The Road Traffic Act also requires you to exercise particular caution when approaching a cycle crossing and to give way to a cyclist on the crossing. A cyclist moves faster than a pedestrian and appears on the crossing suddenly, so you look far in both directions along the cycle path, not just at the kerb.
