Question no. 8424 1 pts basic B

After entering the road marked with these vertical signs, do you have the right to continue driving at a speed of 30 km/h?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving into a housing estate road, at the entrance to which there are signs D-40 "residential area" and D-4a "no through road"; a driving school car with an "L" board is coming from the opposite direction. After entering the road marked with these signs, you are not allowed to drive at 30 km/h - the speed limit in a residential area is 20 km/h. The answer is: no.

The Road Traffic Act states that the speed limit for a vehicle in a residential area is 20 km/h, and the Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-40 marks the entry to a residential area and also informs you that speed bumps and other devices forcing slow driving placed in it might not be marked with warning signs. A residential area is an area where pedestrians may use the whole width of the road and have right of way over vehicles, and children play next to the roadway - that is why the limit is so low. Sign D-4a also tells you that the road is a dead end, so you will have to make a U-turn. Beyond sign D-40 you slow down to 20 km/h, park only in marked places, and when you leave the area, you join traffic (włączanie się do ruchu) and give way to everyone.

Legal basis: Art. 20 para. 2, Art. 11 para. 5, Art. 49 para. 2 point 4 and Art. 17 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 58 para. 1 and 2 and § 45 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
