Question no. 8365 3 pts basic B

In this situation, do you have the right to drive straight ahead through the intersection?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are approaching a junction with traffic lights in a city behind a dark car; the traffic lights show green, and above them there are signs A-7 "give way", C-2 "turn right after the sign" and D-6 "pedestrian crossing"; on the left, for the left-turn lanes, there is sign C-4 with a red light, so you cannot go straight on from any lane. You are not allowed to drive straight across the junction - the mandatory sign tells you to turn right. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign C-2 "turn right after the sign" requires the driver to travel in the direction of the arrow and applies at the nearest junction or at the place where it is possible to change direction. A green light allows you to drive past the traffic lights, but it does not change the directions permitted by signs - traffic lights take precedence only over signs regulating right of way, not over mandatory signs. You switch on your right indicator, give way to pedestrians on the crossing that you are turning across, and turn right.

Legal basis: § 35 para. 1 point 2 and para. 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 5 para. 3 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
