Question no. 8366 3 pts basic B

In this situation, should stopping the vehicle in order to yield the right of way occur each time before the "STOP" sign?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving in winter along a street in a town behind a dark minivan and approaching a junction; on the right, before the junction, there is sign B-20 "STOP"; there is no stop line on the roadway, and buildings and a snow-covered shoulder block the view of the intersecting road. Stopping to give way does not have to happen every time in front of the sign itself - what matters is the place from which you can see the priority road. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 means that you must not enter the junction without stopping in front of the priority road, and you should stop at the place marked for this purpose, that is, in front of mandatory stop line P-12, and if there is none - at a place where you can make sure that you will not obstruct traffic on the priority road. The sign often stands a few metres before the junction, where a fence or a house blocks the view - stopping at that point would achieve nothing. So you stop where you can see the intersecting road in both directions, but without driving onto it; if there is a P-12 line, you stop in front of it.
