Question no. 8133 2 pts basic B

Are you allowed in the visible situation to change to the right traffic lane in order to continue driving straight on?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving along a wide city street in the far left lane, on which lane direction arrow P-8b for turning left is painted, and sign F-10 before the junction shows that only the two middle lanes and the right lane lead straight on; between your lane and the next one there is a hatched area P-21 (powierzchnia wyłączona) with white diagonal stripes. You are not allowed to change to the lane on your right to go straight on. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that lane direction arrow P-8b means that driving from the lane on which it is placed is permitted only in the direction shown by the arrow, and that marking P-21 "hatched area" marks a part of the road which you are not allowed to drive onto or stop on. Since the lanes are already separated by the hatched area, moving to the right would mean driving onto it - so you turn left, as the arrow shows. You had to leave this lane earlier, when the line was still broken. At large junctions you read sign F-10 in advance and get into the correct lane several hundred metres before it.

Legal basis: § 87 para. 1, § 90 para. 5 and § 72 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
