Question no. 8122 2 pts basic B

Are you permitted to drive on the solid line in th presented situation?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving along a wide city street and approaching a junction with traffic lights, which are showing red; before the junction the lines between the lanes change from broken to solid, and there are signs F-10 and B-23 next to the road. You are not allowed to drive onto the solid line. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that marking P-2 "single solid line" separates lanes going in the same direction and means that you are not allowed to cross this line or drive onto it. Before junctions, solid lines force you to choose your lane earlier: a driver who changes their mind at the last moment and moves across a solid line cuts in front of vehicles waiting in the next lane and disrupts the lane directions shown by the arrows. You choose your lane where the line is still broken, following sign F-10 and the arrows on the roadway; on the section with a solid line you drive in the middle of your lane, without cutting the corner and without your wheels touching the line, even when turning.
