Are you allowed in this situation to park a motor vehicle on the roadway behind the sign?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the photo you are driving along a wide city street behind a silver car; on the right there is a row of parked cars, and above them sign D-18 "parking" with plate T-30, on which the car stands with its whole outline on the pavement, at an angle to the edge of the roadway. Beyond this sign you are not allowed to park on the roadway - the parking spaces are on the pavement, in the way shown on the plate. The answer is: no.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-18 means a place intended for parking vehicles, that plate T-30 placed below it shows how the vehicle is to be positioned in relation to the edge of the roadway, which is marked grey on the plate, and that the place is intended for motor vehicles with a maximum permissible mass not exceeding 2.5 t. The plate shows exactly where the car must stand: here the whole vehicle must be on the pavement, at an angle, just as the other cars are parked. Parking on the roadway at this spot would block the right-hand lane of a busy street. So you park as shown on the plate and check that the front wheels do not stick out onto the roadway.
Legal basis: § 52 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
