The Road Traffic Act requires a vehicle to be kept in a condition that does not endanger safety, and measuring the oil only makes sense when it is done correctly. After the engine is switched off, oil flows from the passages and the cylinder head down into the sump for several minutes - measuring "immediately" (answer A) will show too little oil and tempt you to overfill, which damages the seals and the clutch. The motorcycle must stand upright, because the sight glass and the dipstick are calibrated for this position: on the side stand the reading is distorted, and laying the motorcycle on its side (answer B) is absurd - oil will pour out through the breather, and petrol from the carburettor or the tank may spill. So you hold the motorcycle upright, preferably with the help of a second person, or put it on the centre stand if it has one. You top up with the oil recommended by the manufacturer, to a level between the marks, never above the maximum.
