When driving a tram, are you allowed to use the high beam lights on an unlit road if you do not blind other drivers?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo we see the front of a tram with its headlights switched on. When driving a tram, you are allowed to use main beam (high beam) on an unlit road if you do not dazzle other drivers - the answer is YES.

From dusk to dawn on unlit roads, a driver may use main beam instead of dipped headlights (low beam) or together with them, as long as they do not dazzle other drivers or pedestrians walking in a column. This also applies to a tram. When a vehicle is coming from the opposite direction or you are driving behind another vehicle, you switch to dipped headlights. You also switch from main beam to dipped headlights when you could dazzle the driver of another tram.
