The EU Regulation states that any reduction of a weekly rest period is compensated by an equivalent period of rest taken in one go before the end of the third week following the week in question. "In one go" means as a whole, in one piece - the rule used to say "en bloc" - so you must not split the compensation into two parts (answer A) or divide it as the driver chooses (answer B). The compensation is attached to another rest period of at least 9 hours. The point is for the driver to really rest after a reduced rest period, and not to collect single hours off scattered over several days.
