Which of the following control lights indicates that the oil level in the engine is too low?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

B. B.

Explanation

In the drawing, three red symbols: A - a battery, B - an oil can with a drop of oil, C - an exclamation mark in a circle surrounded by arcs. Too low an oil level in the engine is signalled by light B - answer B.

The red oil can is the warning light of the lubrication system. In most vehicles it reacts to oil pressure that is too low, and the most common cause of this is simply too little oil in the sump; some engines also have a separate level sensor. When this warning light comes on while driving, you immediately stop the tractor in a safe place and switch off the engine - driving on may end with the engine seizing. Then you check the oil level on the dipstick and look for a leak. The battery (answer A) signals that the battery is not charging, and the exclamation mark in a circle (answer C) concerns the brakes. Remember that the light is the last warning - you check the oil level regularly, before anything lights up.
