Show the correct answer
Correct answer
A. Within 30 days.
Explanation
In the photo, a vehicle registration certificate, a calendar page and a plate reading "Starostwo Powiatowe" (district office) are placed over a picture of a motorcycle. After buying a registered motorcycle, you have 30 days to deal with the matter at the office of the starost (head of the district authority) - answer A.
The Road Traffic Act states that the owner of a vehicle is obliged to submit an application for its registration within 30 days of the day the vehicle was acquired in Poland. Since 2024 this has replaced the former notification of purchase: the buyer not only informs the starost but also, within 30 days, submits an application to re-register the motorcycle in their own name. The seller, in turn, has 30 days to notify the starost of the sale of the vehicle. The periods of 14 days (answer B) and 7 days (answer C) do not appear in these rules. Anyone who is late with the application pays an administrative penalty - 500 PLN, and after 180 days 1000 PLN - imposed by the starost. For registration you need proof of ownership (the contract) and the existing vehicle registration certificate, and you can keep the plates; the third-party liability insurance (OC) passes to you together with the motorcycle, but it is worth checking how long it has been paid for.
