What may be the effect of wrong adjustment of low-beam lights?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
C. Blinding the drivers approaching from the opposite direction.
Explanation
Incorrectly adjusted dipped headlights may dazzle drivers coming from the opposite direction - answer C. The adjustment of the headlights has no effect on fuel consumption (A) or on the wear of bulbs (B).
The Regulation on the technical conditions of vehicles states that the lights of a vehicle should not dazzle other road users (except main beam), and dipped headlights must give a clear line between light and shadow and light the road asymmetrically - further on the right-hand side - and for at least 40 m. A headlight aimed too high, for example after loading the boot, after changing a bulb without adjusting it or after damage to the suspension, shines straight into the eyes of drivers coming from the opposite direction, who lose their vision for a few seconds. That is why, when the car is fully loaded, you lower the headlights with the headlight levelling control, and you have the light alignment checked at the technical inspection or in a garage.
