So the fire extinguisher should be close at hand - under a seat or in a storage compartment, not under the luggage - and it must be within its expiry date, because the vehicle inspector checks it at the technical inspection. A car fire develops within a few minutes, and a small powder fire extinguisher lets you put out the fire at an early stage, for example in the engine compartment, by spraying through the gap of a slightly opened bonnet.
