On what public roads is wearing seatbelts mandatory?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

A. On all roads.

Explanation

In the photo you can see a seat belt hanging loosely from the upper mounting on the pillar - unfastened. You must wear a seat belt on all public roads - answer A. The Road Traffic Act does not limit this obligation to hard-surfaced roads (B) or to roads outside built-up areas (C).

The Road Traffic Act states that the driver of a motor vehicle and a person carried in such a vehicle equipped with seat belts must wear these seat belts while driving - regardless of the type of road, the speed or the length of the journey. Road traffic rules apply on public roads, in residential areas and in traffic zones (strefy ruchu), so you fasten your seat belt also on a housing estate street and on a dirt road. Most accidents happen close to home, at low speeds, and a seat belt fastened on a short journey protects you just as well as on a motorway. The exceptions apply only to particular people, for example women who are visibly pregnant.

Legal basis: Art. 39 para. 1 and Art. 1 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
