In this situation, should you slow down?

In the video you are driving along a street through a town, and ahead of you on the roadway, by the centre line, two workers in orange vests are painting road markings. In this situation you should reduce your speed. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act requires you, when going around, to keep a safe distance from the road user or obstacle you are going around and, if necessary, to reduce speed, and it requires a driver to apply the principle of limited trust towards people who may behave in an unusual way. A worker bent over the painting may step back or straighten up towards your lane without looking at the road. You slow down clearly, go around them with as much distance as possible, but without driving into the path of oncoming vehicles, and you are ready to stop.

Legal basis: Art. 23 para. 1 point 2, Art. 19 para. 1 and Art. 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
