If you drive a truck with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 t, what's the maximum speed at which you can drive on an express road?

In the photo, you are driving on a dual carriageway, and on the right there is sign D-7 "expressway". When driving a lorry with a maximum permissible mass of over 3.5 t, on an expressway you may drive at no more than 80 km/h - answer A.

The Road Traffic Act states that the speed limit for a vehicle combination or a vehicle other than a passenger car, a motorcycle and a lorry up to 3.5 t outside a built-up area is 80 km/h on a motorway, an expressway or a dual carriageway with at least two lanes for each direction, and 70 km/h on other roads. The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-7 marks the beginning or continuation of an expressway. For a lorry over 3.5 t, the limit on an expressway is always 80 km/h, while passenger cars may drive here at 120 km/h (dual carriageway) or 100 km/h (single carriageway). This difference in speed - 40 km/h between you and passenger cars - requires attention when changing lanes; in fact, on an expressway with two lanes in each direction, a lorry over 3.5 t must not overtake other vehicles unless they are travelling much more slowly. You also keep a following distance of at least half your speed in metres, that is 40 m at 80 km/h.
