How should a tram driver behave on the section beyond the visible prohibition sign?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. He should drive at a speed no greater than the value indicated on the sign.
Explanation
In the photo, we are driving a tram on tram tracks running next to the roadway. On the right side of the track there is sign BT-1 "speed limit" with the number 10 and a plate "Szyny napawane" (rails repaired by welding), and next to it, closer to the roadway, sign A-21 "tram" and sign F-10 showing the directions of traffic in the lanes for cars. Beyond this sign, the tram driver should drive at a speed no greater than the value shown on the sign - answer B.
Sign BT-1 prohibits the driver of a tram travelling on the track next to which it is placed from exceeding the speed shown on the sign. The prohibition applies from the place where the sign stands to the nearest junction (fork) of tracks or to the place where sign BT-2 "end of speed limit" stands. So the number 10 means that you must not drive the tram faster than 10 km/h. The rules do not give a tolerance of 10 km/h (answer A), and the absence of obstacles on the track (answer C) does not free you from obeying the limit. The plate informs you that the rails were repaired by welding.
