When driving a vehicle involved in a road accident in which people are injured, are you obliged to remove the vehicle from the scene of the accident not to obstruct the traffic?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
The photo shows the scene of an accident on a road among trees: an overturned trailer loaded with wood is blocking the roadway, further on there is a damaged car, and on the left a tractor. If you are involved in an accident in which people are injured, you are not obliged to remove your vehicle from the scene - on the contrary, you must not change the position of the vehicles. The answer is: no.
The Road Traffic Act requires you to remove the vehicle from the scene of an accident immediately only when nobody has been killed or injured. If there are injured people, the driver is obliged to help them, call the emergency medical service and the Police, stay at the scene and not take any action that could make it harder to establish how the accident happened - and moving the vehicle would do exactly that. You secure the scene with a warning triangle and hazard warning lights, and you leave the car where it stopped.
