Are you allowed in this situation to stop your vehicle before the level crossing?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
You are approaching a level crossing without barriers, in front of which there is sign B-20 "STOP" together with a St Andrew's cross. The car in front of you stops before the tracks. You are also obliged to stop your vehicle before the crossing - the "STOP" sign always requires this, regardless of whether you can see or hear a train.
The Regulation on road signs and signals says that sign B-20 means no entry without stopping, and the rules on this sign apply accordingly to sign B-20 placed before tracks used by rail vehicles. In addition, the Road Traffic Act requires you, before entering the tracks, to make sure that no rail vehicle is approaching. So you stop at a place from which you can see the tracks well in both directions, and you move off only after checking.
Legal basis: § 21 para. 1, 2 and 4 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 28 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
